Fell (noun): high landscape feature such as a mountain or moor covered hills. (term used in the Lake District, England)

Growing up, I loved visiting my grandparents in the Lake District in Northern England. Here, the hills are called fells and the landscape is breathtaking. My grandparents’ home was at the base of a fell, so the house was lovingly called FellFoot.

During our visits, we always went walking in the fells (rain or shine). I remember fondly my grandmother and grandfather coaxing my brother and I up the fells with encouraging words and the occasional KitKat. Once we reached the summit, the views were majestic.

We all have health goals and challenges. We all stand at the base of our own fells. With guidance, encouragement, and effort we too can make it to the top.
